Brittany, my younger daughter, has had a hankering for lemonade. Yum!
Especially as the weather begins heating up, she craves refreshing summer drinks. Now that our family is eating the Trim Healthy lifestyle and are continuing to lose weight together, she's been on the lookout for a THM-style, low-carb recipe for some yummy lemonade.
Here are two versions that she's made for us, which is just perfect, because it was 83 degrees here today!
Brittany's Sparkling Low Carb Lemonade
Mix together and serve over ice.
Note: not everyone can tolerate xylitol in these quantities. If you aren't sure, you may prefer to use just the stevia, or a combination of stevia, erythritol, or Truvia as your sweetener of choice, to avoid stomach upset. I personally can't eat hardly any xylitol. Oh, and keep in mind that if you have dogs, xylitol is poisonous to dogs, even in small amounts.
Fresh Low Carb Strawberry Lemonade or Ices
1 packet True Lemon
14 -16 oz. water
2 Tbsp. sliced strawberries
sweetener or sugar to taste
Place sliced strawberries in iced tea sized glass (16 to 20 oz.) Add one packet of True Lemon. Add water and stir well. You may serve over ice cubes or place in refrigerator to cool; another option is to place ingredients in blender and blend well using the ice crushing button to make a strawberry-lemonade icee type of beverage.
