The Desire ~ written by Dan Walsh & Gary Smalley
Can faith build a bridge between their dreams? For two years, Allan and Michele have been trying to have a baby. The emotional ride has been taking a toll on their hearts--and their relationship. Michele is obsessed with researching fertility treatments while Allan seems content to spend his time--and their money--on supporting displaced children in Africa. Something's got to give. But they both hope it's not their marriage. Still, God has a plan for Allan and Michele that they could never have imagined. And all it takes to set it in motion is a change of heart . . . The Desire. |

Julie's Review for Joy In Our Journey:
Some of the very traumatic (but not uncommon) circumstances of people’s lives are featured in this most intriguing novel, The Desire; a childless marriage, couples with differing hopes and goals, unplanned pregnancy crisis, a wayward child, great shifts in a family’s circumstances, a vision for the hopeless in the world and seeking a way to remedy the situation, adoption, and church- related issues. All these packed into a unique but ordinary family: the Andersons – parents, four adult children, spouses, grandchildren. Each has their own special needs and individual story. This book mainly focuses on Michelle and her husband Allen. It also introduces an important character, Christina, from outside the family.
This book is the third in a series of four, each focusing on a different member of the family and dealing with their special circumstances. It
deals with a loving, close knit, supportive and well- meaning family and shows how their desire to become more Christ- centered can have a huge impact on their own lives.
The Desire is a well-written novel which is hard to put down once started!
