So...let's get honest here. When you hear or read the true biblical account of Lazarus, Martha, and Mary, which character are YOU? I've always enjoyed reading the true biblical accounts of real people in the Bible, who were a part of their culture and interacted with Jesus or other believers. And, this is probably no surprise to those of you who know me well . . . I'm a MARTHA. I used to think that this is a bad thing, but as I've matured, I've learned that Mary, Lazarus, and Martha all had unique challenges in their lives. They all had weaknesses. They all had failures. And they all learned to rely on Jesus for guidance through their challenges. Diana Wallis Taylor writes in an easy-to-read style that transports you back to the time in history which she is retelling. She is an award-winning Christian author and speaker. Diana has written about the woman of Samaria at the well, as well as a book of poems. She is a songwriter and also writes for various books and magazines. Her first book, Journey to the Well, came out in March 2009. After reading Martha, I'd like to also read Journey to the Well. What did I think about the new book, Martha? Wonderful! I enjoyed the variety of situations found in this family: quick proposals of marriage, broken hearts, the way the culture dictated so much of how they lived back then, a life turned into a ministry, and seeking after Jesus with a whole heart. Martha clearly shows all readers that God can use anyone for His glory! And that's always a great message to hear! After a busy school year, it was fun to sit down with an easy read that was still a historical fiction novel. Whenever I read about Mary, Martha, and Lazarus in the future, I will always think of this book. I enjoyed it thoroughly! I recommend this one!
