For the last couple of years, The Old Schoolhouse magazine has offered a free digital download of their Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays issue for anyone and everyone to enjoy. This year's free download is full of 176 pages of beautiful photos, articles, and recipes. Most of you probably know this already, but this is the magazine for which I work, as a member of the TOS Crew, a group of parents who educate their children at home and use and review curricula and home education products on their own personal blogs and websites. The link for the FREE download for the TOS 2010 Holiday Supplement is HERE. While I can't place the articles and recipes here for you on my website, I can provide you with a list of articles and recipes. I think you will be very pleased with this beautiful magazine issue this autumn! Regional Holidays

I hope you will be able to take advantage of this beautiful Christmas and Thanksgiving issue and download it for yourself. I know that you will not be disappointed!

You seem to always have neat ideas to share-you should check out my Mom's laundry soap recipe on my "notes"...you can make a 5 gallon bucket of laundry soap for less than $5!

A friend gave me one quart of the $5 bucket laundry soap, but since my washing machine was built in 1980 and is 30 years old, it just didn't work well with the $5 bucket laundry soap. Oh, well; at least, I tried! I think ...it works really well in the High Efficiency washers...but not mine. I just buy fragrance free laundry detergent from Costco or AzureStandard.com instead. Thank you for the suggestion, though!

Actually, it's a Sears/Kenmore product, back when they made them very GOOD. I keep praying that it won't break, or if it breaks, we can buy parts to repair it, because the newer washers that are reliable are about $1,000...and that is way ...over our budget! Our washing machine doesn't wash as well as the new washers, that's for certain; I must pretreat every stain, and even with that, it doesn't always come out. But, it works well enough if we are careful to watch stains, so it's good enough for me. Sure beats paying out a huge amount for a washer that may only last 5-10 years...at least for now.
