my favorite time of History is the 1800's (pioneer days)

I've always enjoyed reading about that era, too! But the more I read, the less interested I am in living like pioneers needed to live. So much work! And death at such young ages. :(

My favorite American history time period is the revolutionary time period (largely thanks to Johnny Tremain). :)

My daughter really enjoys reading about the Revolutionary time period, mainly because she is interested in the U.S. Constitution and all that goes along with that.

Mine too. As I look at history, so often big changes come about from the life of a single individual, but at that time there were so many courageous, eloquent, intelligent, brilliant leaders it just boggles my mind.

Absolutely, Julia - well said! :) And many of them were so young: ages 12-17, and did amazing things for our nation.

I was taught a lot about colonial times in history in public schools, but because it was presented in such a dry, textbook way, I remember very little of it. It's only now that I'm reading historical fiction set in that era that I'm enjoying it now. :)

My favorite era in history... I'm begining to see the benefits of NOT being alive back then. I'm fascinated with learning about historical figures such as George Washington, Abigail Adams, Abraham Lincoln, Mary Curie, et. cetera however if you're speaking of a period It would have to be between biblical times of Abraham and Sarah and the Civil War era that has always fascinated me and captured my imagination.

What got me initially interested in historical fiction was reading about World War II and the mainly the Jewish/Nazi situation. But now, I enjoy reading from just about any era of time, as long as it is well written and carefully researched. :)

I like learning about the civil war period. I am a "yankee" who has been transplanted into the south and I live in an area with lots of plantation houses and museums about that time period. It's fascinating!

That would be, Abby! We visited Washington, D.C. last autumn, and we learned so much. I know that isn't the "south", but the area is still filled with museums and large estates, far different from what we experience here in Oregon.

Not sure what my favorite time is. Maybe the beginning and the revolutionary War.

I still have a lot to learn from that era, the beginnings of our nation.

I loved the Little House on the Prairie books and television shows, too! My daughters haven't appreciated them as much due to the lower quality of the film, and some of the acting, but I thought it was one of the greatest shows ever when I was growing up! :)

My favorite time period would have to be the mid to late 1800's. There was just so much going on in our country at that time.

My son loves the French and Indian War because of an amazing re-enactment we go to every year.

My favorite time period is 1700-1900. Though my boys love any time period as long as there is intrigue and high spirited adventure. lol!
