Eco at Heart Stainless Steel Drinking Straws GIVEAWAY!

I like using straws.  So do my girls.  My husband?  Not as much, although he's fine with 'em from time to time.

We use straws a lot in our home.  I know, I know, it's kind of like the spoiled American thing to do, right?

So I have this giant bag of plastic straws that I bought at Costco.  It takes us about 2-3 years to go through one big bag of straws, but we eventually do.

For those of you who cringe at the thought of throwing away all those plastic straws and their paper wrappers every day, I'm sorry.  It doesn't bother me as much as it should, but it's starting to.  A few years ago, though, we did begin transitioning away from using plastics with foods, and we have done better in that department.

I'd heard of stainless steel straws before, but hadn't ever bought any of 'em.

Probably because I had sooooooo many plastic straws in my house already, right?  ☺

And I hadn't been all that crazy about the plastic reusable straws that I've seen and purchased.  They're not as easy to clean out and reuse.

But these new stainless steel straws by Eco at Heart came my way, and I decided to give them a try.

Oh, my!  I had no idea how much I would like these straws!
Picture

These 18/8 stainless steel straws are strong and durable, strong enough to double as a "stir stick"...very smooth...and w-i-d-e, and 8.5" long.  They're not going to rust or bend.

I really liked the W-I-D-E part.  ☺ They're actually 3/8" wide, larger than a normal straw, and they are perfect for thick smoothies, shakes, and protein shakes.  Just perfect!  Even if my smoothie, shake, or protein drink has a few bits of fruit in it, no problem!

I also have used these straws with "The Shrinker", a homemade, low-calorie oolong tea beverage I make.  Because I like my beverages chilled and kept cold, these straws are great because stainless steel gets cold quickly, and I really like the chilled straw effect.

These straws can even be kept cold in the freezer...but don't use them with hot beverages, or - ouch!  You'll burn your mouth.

One of the other things I noticed with the Eco at Heart stainless steel straws is that they have no odor or taste.  So don't be worried about a metallic taste to your beverage, or about your straw retaining odors from milk or juices.

When my stainless steel straws arrived in the mail, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they came with a miniature brush designed to clean out the straws.  The straw cleaner brush works well - yes!  But if you want, these straws are also dishwasher safe.

Picture
If you decide to purchase some Eco at Heart Stainless Steel Straws, you'll notice that for Amazon Prime members, the shipping is free.

Yes, these are more expensive than plastic or throwaway straws.  $14.97 for five straws is more expensive than the cheaper options.  But these are going to last my family a lot longer than any of the plastic straws I've seen in the stores.  And this will help us to no longer purchase the throwaway straws that only get one use.  That's a good thing!

When these are ordered through Amazon.com, you'll also receive a free eBook packed with 25 smoothie recipes.

I love our stainless straws! My kids use straws ALL THE TIME, so I'm pretty sure we've MORE than paid for them by now. :D

I'm a huge fan of using less, or even refusing in the first place. Once you make it clear to a business that you won't accept single use straws - things can change pretty quickly.
Thanks

i LOVE reusable straws. I use the plastic insulated cups ALL THE TIME and it would be great to have some stainless straws so I don't have to worry about the porous nature of the plastic ones...

I've always used disposable straws for my kiddos. I tried plastic reusable and yuck, I couldn't get them clean. I would love to have these stainless steel straws for my protein smoothies!

I have never used a metal drinking straw and would probably like it because I like to drink out of metal glasses and cups...now just maybe my chance...woo hoo!!!

I've never used stainless steel straws but would love to so I can get rid of the disposable plastic ones. I drink protein shakes several times a week so they would get a lot of use.

I have not used steel straws but I have used glass ones. I really would like to try the steel ones - I love that there is no metallic taste and I love that they wont break in the silverware drawer like the glass ones!
