This new DVD, Father of Lights, was something that I'm very thankful God allowed our family to see! We watched it over two nights during our family Bible time. Here's what my husband and I had decided before watching it: If the movie was heretical, with its concepts against the Holy Scriptures, then we would use the viewing to stimulate godly discussion among our family about who God really is, and how this impacts our lives. We would have talked about how portions of the movie - or specific phrases - were wrong and went against specific verses and passages in the Bible. Thankfully, we didn't need to do that! But Father of Lights definitely did provide plenty for us to discuss! I truly loved seeing how the Holy Spirit is using such a wide variety of ways to share the gospel and God's love for people in this movie. It is simply AMAZING! If you love adoption and helping the helpless, you'll love watching this family, below, as they minister to "throwaway" children in an Asian society: From the producer: Father of Lights is the final film in the Finger of God/Furious Love trilogy. It is big, epic, and above all, challenging. If the producers were to have to explain what it is about in a nutshell, they would put it like this: if Finger of God is about God’s power, and Furious Love is about God’s love, then Father of Lights is about God’s heart. "I went into making this film by asking the simple question: who is God? I wanted to know His character, His personality, and who He truly is. To answer this question, we had to peel back the many layers of religious garbage that has been passed onto Him through generations. That He is angry. Vengeful. Wrathful. And in general, that He doesn’t like you very much. The truth, as you will see vibrantly in this film, is that He is the most loving, compassionate, and wonderful Father you can imagine. Along the way, we will look at a number of things. Aside from dealing with some of the misconceptions surrounding the Father, we’ll journey through the nature of grace, take on the 'religious spirit', and see some of the most amazing God encounters ever put on film. You’ll meet people who love more extravagantly than you thought possible, will watch God deal with witch doctors and gang leaders and Hindu holy men, and you’ll see an ending that…well…let’s just say you’ll need to see it to truly believe it." This man, above, one of the spiritual leaders of his entire community, prayed to receive Christ after hearing about the gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time, ever. This brought such tears to my eyes! See this man, above, in the yellow shirt on the left? You will be absolutely amazed at what God does in this circumstance. I was stunned to see how the Lord works through Tim, on the right! And then the scene where the top gang leader in a very large U.S. city turns his life over to Christ? That was the cream of the crop for me! Maybe this was because I read a Christian fiction book about a similar circumstance about two years ago, that I found very moving. But in this case, this is not made up. This is true. The film makers risked their lives in order to meet with the gang leaders and try to resolve a dangerous situation. It worked. When they go back to visit the former gang leader several months later, you will not believe how the joy of Christ and new salvation just shines from his face! He is a spiritually changed man. Here's the movie trailer: My final thoughts before doing the giveaway: this is a powerful movie. My children were exposed to some "new to them" methods of sharing Christ with others. One of my daughters said that she felt uncomfortable in a couple of places in the movie, simply because she isn't used to seeing people healed by those who have the spiritual gift of healing. I'm so thankful that we watched this and were able to see the incredible variety of ways that the Holy Spirit is ministering to others all around the world! Disclosure: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in hope that I would mention it on my blog. No other compensation was provided.
